Digital Xpress has installed a Crescendo digital workflow at its Basildon base, and is looking to increase its capacity following its formation in June.
"The business seems to be getting better every month, and we may look to add another Heidelberg DI or two-colour Quickmaster," said director Gary Lang.
Lang and Phoenix Graphics Nick Livemore set up the company after they decided they had to diversify due to the fall in demand for traditional repro services.
With the additional offering of short-run digital print, Lang said the choice of the Heidelberg DI and Crescendo was the right way forward.
The Crescendo system supplied by East Anglias Mayday Graphic Products is page-independent, allowing individual pages to be edited without affecting the rest of the imposition.
"We are now producing anything from stationery to four-colour brochures up to 2,000-3,000 runs for a range of clients including Tesco," said Lang.
* ArtQuest International has launched version 1.5 of Crescendo Server at Graphics Canada in Toronto.
The new version includes an upgraded RIP engine, a satellite resource manager for dispatching high-throughput tasks, and better integration with ArtQuests PDF-IT file format.
