Delta buys two FB7500 presses

Delta Display, part of the Delta Group, has taken delivery of two HP Scitex FB7500 industrial presses - its sixth and seventh - representing a 5m investment in the platform over the past 18 months.

The display printer installed them to increase capacity and improve flexibility. Delta said this has helped it to make client’s "POS work harder under tighter budgets".

Delta’s two latest FB7500 presses are housed in the group’s new 18,580m2 Waltham Cross facility, which contains the HP flatbed machines as well as finishing equipment and the company’s customer service functions.

Installation of the two newest FB7500s, which was signed off in October, make Delta the biggest FB7500 site in Europe.

It marks growth in Delta Display’s wide-format flatbed operation with investment in seven of the machines taking place since March 2010. Four of these are operational at its Black Horse Road headquarters; one at its premises in Leeds, and two at the Waltham Cross facility.

Martin Shipp, executive director at Delta Group, said the group’s raft of FB7500 machines had enabled Delta to increase flexibility and respond more efficiently to client demands.

"By offering complete, integrated services, we have made it possible for our customers to have one supplier they can rely on. This saves them time and money," he added.

In addition to its new FB7500 machines, Delta has been beta testing the upgrade path for the platform, which gives customers the same capabilities as the newly-launched FB7600.

Benefits of this upgrade include a new production mode that boosts output by 15% on previous speeds, improved thin substrate handling and multi-sheet feeding capabilities to print four sheets simultaneously.

"The accuracy and speed of the multi-sheet option is impressive and double-sided printing can be done more quickly and easily," said Shipp.

Shipp also confirmed that Delta plans to adopt the FB7600 functionality across its FB7500 fleet in 2012, upgrading each chassis following "positive productivity returns".

Delta Group, comprising the
550-staff Delta Display, brand agency Lick Creative and MPD Fulfilment, has grown considerably in recent years, with turnover for 2011 projected to be £80m; a 30% increase since 2009.
