Two new high speed Agfa Tauro presses are up and running at Delta Group.

The first of the devices, a Tauro H3300 HS LED, was initially installed at the group’s main Waltham Cross site last September to help during peak season and was decommissioned and moved to the Biggin Hill facility in January, due to the arrival of the second device at Waltham Cross, the 905sqm/hr Tauro H3300 UHS LED. The machine at Biggin Hill replaced an Inca Onset S40i.

Both devices have been up and running in their respective facilities since the start of the year and Delta Display’s chief operating officer, Martin Shipp said he was very pleased with the results.

“We’ve been running the machines now for a few months and we’re happy with their ability to improve speed without impacting on the quality. We are also very impressed with the ability of the machine to print white at speed.

“The Tauro can comfortably print white at 250-400sqm/hr, they can print larger format than our silk screen printers, offering 3.3m widths, and they are more cost-effective than our silk screen machines. The new Tauros are certainly delivering on our expectations.”

He added: “Our market and customer demand is forever changing and the Agfa Tauro engines are keeping us agile and helping us to flex and deliver. In retail, for example, we can now personalise the POS we send out to stores, it’s no longer a one-size-fits-all solution.

“Today a POS campaign may require 20 items delivered to each store quickly and all delivered with bespoke sizes and messaging. The Agfa machines are coping beautifully with this type of work.”

The Agfa Jeti Tauro H3300 is a UV-LED hybrid wide-format inkjet printer range for printing onto rigid and flexible media, with both the HS and UHS models at Delta offering six colours plus white and primer.

The announcement comes just a week after it was revealed that Delta Display had become the world’s first company to sign as a beta customer for the Agfa SpeedSet Orca single-pass B1 inkjet press.

The group is currently in the process of moving the location of its main production facility, although a new site has not yet been revealed. While installation of the SpeedSet is expected to begin imminently, exactly where has not yet been divulged.

Delta serves a host of leading brands and retailers in the entertainment, OOH, events, drinks and health and beauty sectors. Its product range includes corrugated displays and packaging products, large-format boards, bespoke banners, stickers and cartonboard outputs, as well as brochures, leaflets and posters.

It was established 32 years ago in silk screen printing and now offers a range of litho, silk screen, digital and large-format printing on more than 40 production devices.

As well as its 16,700sqm Waltham Cross HQ and its Biggin Hill sites, Delta Group has facilities in Melksham, Dublin and Penge, South East London.

In 2022 the group reported sales of £88.6m and it employs around 600 staff.
