London-based FMG said the move in India was largely in response to growth in magazine publishing there, where Europe-based publishers such as Emap, PrintWeek publisher Haymarket and Hachette have all invested in recent months. However, managing director Simon Berg added that FMG was not limiting its ambitions to India.
He said: “Another goal is to spread outside India into North America, where Amnet has many clients.” Meanwhile, Amnet hopes to capitalise on FMG’s relationships with UK publishers in order to extend its reach into the ever-growing number of them entering Indian market.
Amnet chief executive Aashish Agarwaal said: “Amnet is a leading authority in data-repurposing and our tie-up with FMG extends our reach beyond our core book publishing clientele into FMG’s large portfolio of magazine publishers.”
