Dalim will launch PDF/P2, a new ripped PDF file format for its workflow products, at Print 01.
"Its raster-based PDF so theres zero chance of editing and zero chance of misrepresentation," said Dalim marketing director Gee Ranasinha.
PDF/P2 files consist of high-resolution text and graphics and a lower resolution image file in a PDF 1.2- and PDF 1.3-compatible format.
"It will go through any PostScript level 2 RIP," said Ranasinha. "The main consideration was that it could be output on any device."
He said it offered the benefits of TIFF/IT in a PDF format. It uses lossless compression and tiling to keep file sizes to a minimum, with A4 pages coming out at below 5MB.
As well as providing a secure file format for final plate output, Ranasinha said the ability to show transparency in a PDF using any version of Acrobat also made it ideal for remote proofing.
P2 will be available with all new versions of Dalims shrinkwrapped workflow, Swing, and in versions 4.5 of its Litho and Twist workflows, from the beginning of October.
