Czech firm Conkline eyes export opportunities with Europe's first Vutek QS3220

Conkline has ordered Europe's first Vutek QS 3220, the upgraded version of the UV-cured machine that was launched in May at Fespa Digital 2009.

"We decided to invest in our first UV machine to widen the range of applications we could produce, and because of the improved resolution and environmental benefits," said international sales manager Marie Jezkova.

The firm also hopes that when the machine is installed during the summer it will help it to extend its export business, which already serves customers in the UK and the Netherlands, particularly for high quality backlit work such as for the cosmetics market.

"We'd like to get more overseas work, and our plan is to open an overseas office in London this October," said Jezkova.

The 3220 will join the Czech Republic-based firm's 5m and 3.3m wide solvent Vuteks, which are used for external work, and Mimaki and HP solvent machines for indoor displays.

The 22-staff firm, which was founded in 2006 and has a turnover of €2.5m (£2.12m), offers a complete service from design through to installation, and also offers print management services for its customers' litho and screen requirements that it can't produce in house.

Key to its overseas work is running its east Prague factory 24/7, offering one-day turnaround times and efficient logistics partners to quickly ship work across Europe.
