Croxsons in expansion drive

Croxsons Group has embarked on an expansion plan, which includes an acquisition, a new press, adding finishing and a move to new premises.

The firm has just completed the acquisition of High Wycombe based Clarendon Printers. Owner Jeremy Peeters has left the firm, managing director Robert Jones remains in charge. Of the 12-strong workforce nine have joined Croxsons and will relocate to its Watford print site.

Next year Croxsons will consolidate all its operations under one roof and is adding a finishing department to provide a one-stop shop . It currently has pre-press and digital print in Chesham and second factory in Watford, which prints using a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102.

The new 1,600m2 factory, which is across the road from its Chesham headquarters, is 50% bigger than its current combined sites.

The firm has bought a new 10-colour KBA Rapida 105 that will be installed in the new factory in February to replace the Speedmaster.

"We liked the idea of one long perfector, a lot of our work is suited to it," said managing director Peter Wright (pictured).

He said the firm opted for the KBA because of its ability to handle stock from 80gsm to 700 microns.

"The fundamental factor because we use such a broad range of paper was flexibility," said Wright.
