Contex launches new scanners for wide-format applications

Wide-format scanner manufacturer Contex has unveiled a series of new machines designed for fine art, poster and mapping applications.

Distributed in the UK through ArtSystems, the HD Ultra platform is available in two scanning widths, 42" (1066mm) and 36" (914mm) models.

The machines offer 48-bit colour processing scanning capabilities and eight-inch-per-second scan speeds, which equates to 642 A0 documents per hour.

The HD Ultra models can cater for Adobe RGB and Device RGB colour spaces, with colour accuracy ensured with X-Rite ICC profiles.

According to Contex, Adobe RGB is the preferred choice for many colour professionals, offering key differences between bright and saturated colours.

Device RGB, on the other hand, delivers colours as they are scanned, which maintains all of the variations registered by the scanner.

Both HD Ultra configurations can handle maximum media widths of 1120mm with scanning width capabilities of 1066mm and 914mm available on the respective models.

Additional features available on the machines include a right side feeder for faster document loading, an optical sensor for auto-sizing to paper standards and a funnel-shaped feeder for easier loading of wrinkled or curled paper.

Contex product manager Morten Nielsen said: "The new HD Ultra with Adobe RGB and additional colour spaces sets new standards for quality in wide format scanning. This is a tremendous advantage in productivity for our customers."
