Communisis appoints managing director international

Communisis has appointed former Williams Lea executive director Laurence Bosshard as managing director international as it seeks to boost its overseas presence.

Former director of global procurement business at Williams Lea, Bosshard will now head up a team at Leeds-headquartered marketing services provider, Communisis, that will be responsible for growing the company’s international portfolio of clients and managing its existing overseas client accounts.

Bosshard will report to group managing director Dave Rushton, who said that the newly appointed international position would play "an essential role in furthering opportunities for growth in the company".

Bosshard said: "I am thrilled to be joining Communisis at such a pivotal time in its growth and development."

In its interim results for the six months to 30 June 2012 Communisis posted a growth in overseas revenues from 3% of its overall turnover (£97.8m) in the first half of 2011, to 5% of its £112.6m turnover in H1 of 2012.

The H1 results showed that pre-tax profit at the group fell marginally from £3m in the six months to June 30 2011 to £2.7m in the same period this year, although operating profit excluding exceptional items was up 22% from £3.6m to £4.4m.

Meanwhile last week Communisis revealed to PrintWeek that it could open a second transactional printing facility or extend its existing site at Speke, in which it invested £10m in two HP T400 107cm-wide inkjet web presses last year.

Group technical director Chris Ingham said: "We absolutely want to be in the game and be last man standing."
