Oris Certified Proof can check offset and digital print or digital proofs against their intended reproduction if there is an ICC profile of it. It then prints a self-adhesive label to put on the print to prove its provenance.
Colourbyte has already had interest from major newspaper and print groups in the product.
Weve had one big printer who wants it on his press, with his repro suppliers and at his customers, said technical director Andreas Tangemann.
Although other firms supply proof measuring and verifying tools they tend to be specific to their own proofing front ends, rather than open and able to measure any proof or printed product.
As well as the printed pass or fail, the software can highlight which patch has caused the failure for troubleshooting purposes.
The system comes with a standard colour bar, but it is also possible to create custom colour bars if there are specific colours you need to accurately measure and match. The total package including GretagMacbeth EyeOne spectrophotometer, software and Dymo label printer costs 2,140.
