Book printer Clays has made several revisions to its non-executive board membership, effective immediately.

Following five full years of service to the Bungay, Suffolk-headquartered company’s board as non-executive directors Kate McFarlan and Jonathan Nowell are standing down.

McFarlan is a former managing director of the company, while Nowell has a long career in book publishing and is the current chairman of The Book Trade Charity.

Meanwhile, Mike Levaggi, who served as global procurement director at Harper Collins Publishers until 2022, and Michele Orofino, global strategy director for Mastercard Data and Services, are joining the board.

Clays CEO Edoardo Cuomo said: “We have benefited greatly from the industry experience and insight provided by Kate and Jonathan over the past five years. They have been instrumental in shaping our strategic direction since Elcograf acquired Clays in 2018 and we thank them for their immense contributions during a time of major capital investment and development for the business.

“We are delighted to welcome Mike and Michele to the board. Mike brings his extensive supply chain, publishing, and production experience from Harper Collins Publishers, while Michele’s background in strategy execution and data at Mastercard provides important breadth to our board, adding perspective as we navigate publishing’s continually evolving landscape.

“After unprecedented levels of investment at Clays we are well positioned to support our customers’ futures but we know we must work hard to maintain that and to innovate successfully; Mike and Michele will undoubtedly help us do that.”

Other board positions remain unchanged, with Mario Pozzoni as chairman, Cuomo as CEO, Maurizio Vercelli as legal counsel, and Paul Hulley as non-executive director.
