Chesapeake Belfast upgrades Komori with technotrans systems

Chesapeake Belfast is optimising its Komori LS640 press with a range of technotrans products to increase process control and minimise waste.

The press, which is used to produce pharmaceutical cartons using both UV and conventional inks has been fitted with Ink.mate agitator to prevent skinning and reduce ink waste, while the Beta.f filtration system reduces chemical use by keeping the dampening solution clean.

The company has also installed the Beta.c220 circulator which controls the temperature of the inking and dampening and added Alpha.v to control application of varnish.

Engineering manager Jim Ewings said: "It is better to get the press ancillaries right from the start rather than to go back and be bolting things on at a later stage.

"Waste is a key issue for us in terms of our environmental strategy but also because with spiralling consumables costs optimising usage is critical in today's market."
