Calls for BPIF to hold 'motivation workshops'

The BPIF should develop workshops for members to be aware of the difference between staff morale and motivation, according to recruitment consultant Mercury Search & Selection.

At the BPIF's North West Region networking event last week (3 November), held at Howard Smith Paper in Warrington, the company explained the importance of motivation in a successful company.

It gave advice on how to motivate employees and how to make sure a business survives the recession.

Mercury claimed that the BPIF should develop practical workshops where members could discuss and resolve "more sensitive issues" related to morale.

Dani Novick, managing director at Mercury, said: "Finding clients the very best talent is at the heart of what we do but, in times like these, there can be no doubt that our clients benefit from outplacement support for those being made redundant and this type of motivational training to help those that remain."

The next BPIF North Western Region event will be held on 26 January 2010. Members will learn about the opportunities to move from a production-based business model with diminishing margins to one built on added-value to both printer and customer, the BPIF said.

Andy Brown, corporate affairs director for the BPIF, said: "It is an interesting question to bring up in a recession because there is a lot of malaise and that can effect motivation and morale. If it was viable and there was demand for it, we would consider running workshops on this."
