Bobst India technical seminars a big success

Bobst India's technical seminars conducted in Chandigarh, Bengaluru and Mumbai in recent months received overwhelming response with 130 customers from 65 companies attending these seminars.

Utility PrintPack, Parksons, Paramount Packaging, Velpack, Award Offset, Hi-Tech Print and Printline were some of the print packagers in attendance in Mumbai while in Universal, Super Multi, Jannus, ICMC, Bhambri, Noble, Mansa participated. Bengaluru saw Sai Packaging, Global, Kamsri, Yuno, Pattambhi, PM Offset, Trimurti, Micro Print, Esscee among others in attendance.  

"The objective of these technical seminars is to inform and share the trends in folding carton with our customers and end-user expectations from packaging convertors," said Venugopal Menon, vice-president, business unit – sheetfed, Indian sub-continent at Bobst.

Menon added: "We also wanted to highlight the process and technological aspects in post-press activities like die cutting and folding gluing and how our customers could be more efficient, productive and cost efficient in this competitive business."

Bobst builds and delivers a wide range of die-cutters, folder-gluers, foil stamping machines, window patching machines and flexo post print converting kit. It started India operation way back in 1996 and global manufacturing unit at Pune in 2002.

Since then it has formed a formidable sales and service team to cater to the packaging and converting industry in India and Indian Sub-continent region. In February this year, Bobst opened a Competence Centre at its plant in Pune. The centre offers wide range of consultancy and support services, including demos, customer trial jobs and working closely with packagers to develop new solutions.

"We are happy to say that our activities have brought fruit and we believe that we have been able to add some value in the folding carton and flexible business in India," said Menon.
 
Bobst has also started a training school in Pune. "This one will train the operators and supervisors in converting process and gear them to operate and run machines more efficiently and effectively, so that our customer can produce and get optimum output from their investment," said Menon.
