The firm has appointed Cooper Clegg’s current works director, Lez Davies, to the new role, which has been created following BGP’s announcement last month that it would spend £25m on a major upgrade to its Bicester site.
Davies is currently on gardening leave and will join BGP in September.
BGP managing director Peter Clark said: “This appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to attract and retain the best talent in the print business.”
Separately, BGP has won a contract to print weekly title London Careers and several other titles for Independent Magazines, part of INM.
London Careers is distributed in central London on Mondays and is believed to have a circulation of 100,000.
INM group head of production Darren Nash said: “We were impressed by BGP’s commitment to investment for publishers.”
