BemroseBooth preparing to appoint administrators

BemroseBooth could be on the verge of administration after it filed a notice of intent to appoint an administrator at the High Court of Justice last week (16 June).

Unite assistant general secretary Tony Burke confirmed that a meeting is being held with staff today and that a regional officer from the union is currently on site.

He said: "It's a very difficult situation and we will be speaking with our members when the meeting is concluded later on today."

Insolvency practioners David Rubin & Partners confirmed on Friday (18 June) that it had been approached by the Derby-based group.

It confirmed that a notice of intent to appoint an administrator had been filed and that BemroseBooth directors intended to appoint Henry Lan and David Rubin, partners at David Rubin & Partners, within the next 10 days.

The notice, action number 5009 of 2010, was filed at the Companies Court on 16 June. The applicants are listed as "the directors of the company acting on their own behalf".

A new company, Bemrosebooth Systems, was created on 8 June 2010 and it lists BemroseBooth chief executive Jean Paul Ansel as a director along with Leonard Maleson Levie.

According to PrintWeek's Top 500 2009, BemroseBooth had a turnover of £56m and employed around 610 staff.

However, the company has announced redundancies totaling more than 200 staff since January 2009.

The company was unavailable to comment when contacted by PrintWeek.
