ASAP beefs up its finishing line-up with Morgana kit

ASAP Digital has reduced the time it takes to complete its bookletmaking work and brought nearly all its finishing operations in-house after investing in a raft of Morgana equipment.

The Sheffield-based printer has installed a DocuMaster multi-purpose finishing system, an EBA programmatic guillotine and a DigiFold combined creaser/folder to complete the work printed on its HP Indigo 3050 press.

Mark Hutchinson, director of ASAP Digital, told printweek.com the new equipment had "streamlined" the firm's finishing work. He added that prior to installing the Morgana kit, the firm had been "able to produce the work but the finishing was slowing us down".

Hutchinson said jobs which would have previously taken nearly six hours to complete now "only take an hour" with the DocuMaster, and that they only took one member of staff to manage rather than three.

The two-year-old company, which specialises in high-quality, short-run colour work, primarily for graphic design houses and advertising agencies, now does most of its finishing in-house.

"We carry out everything except the long-run laminating work, which proves more efficient to outsource," added Hutchinson.

Sofie Allsop, director of ASAP Digital, added: "The DigiFold enables us to crease and fold heavier stocks, while the DocuMaster has revolutionised our bookletmaking, which used to depend on a hand-fed, labour intensive system."

The equipment joins a finishing line-up that includes a Morgana AutoCreaser and an CardXtra business card cutter.
