It said selling the manufacturer of print chemicals offered better value for shareholders than keeping the firms based in Sweden and Germany.
DS Group made just over 1m in profits for the year to April 2001.
Its performance contrasted with that of Bousfield, which Amberley sold to private investor Runway Ventures last year to write off over 11m of debt (PrintWeek, 16 November).
Amberley has called a shareholder meeting for later this month to approve the sale. Its half-year interim results ending September 2001 revealed a pre-tax loss of 1.2m.
Amberley has no other trading subsidiaries following this sale.
