Alderson Brothers has invested a six-figure sum on a Logic MIS from PrintCafe.
The system will be installed later this month and is due to take over from the firms DOS-based Solprint MIS by the beginning of November.
Wed outgrown our old system and were looking for something to improve our speed of operation and the ability to pass information to customers more quickly, said operations director David Bland.
PrintCafes direct machine interface (DMI) software Auto-Count will be used for collecting data from the shop floor.
Logic is one of the few packages that supports DMI, which gives us production information in real time, said Bland. Our business is almost instant print these days so we need to know the exact time a job will be finished on press and when the plates for the next job will be available.
Aldersons Logic system will come with Accounting, a software module for invoicing, purchasing, work in progress and credit checks.
The investment in MIS is the latest development for the firm, which hopes to push turnover to 20m this year.
