Agfa expands 8-up thermal platesetter range with 65pph model

Agfa has beaten Screen to announce the latest upgrade to its Avalon N8 8up thermal CTP range, which is based on Screen's PlateRite 8000N platesetter series.

Agfa, which has an OEM partnership with Screen, has announced two new additions to its Avalon thermal CTP range, the Avalon N8-60 and N8-80.

The two new 8-up models feature an improved recording head design that offers wider imaging latitude, thereby reducing power consumption, while enhancing image quality and throughput.

Both models are available in various different output speeds, up to a maximum of 65 plates per hour, and are capable of imaging the full portfolio of Agfa Graphics' thermal plates.

"When you combine the new Avalon engines with our ThermoFuse plates, chemistry-free Azura TS or Amigo TS, you get unparalleled productivity and quality," said Eddy de Dobbeleer, marketing, output systems at Agfa Graphics.

"The new engine in combination with Agfa Graphics' Apogee workflow and the Sublima cross-modulated (XM) screening outperforms any other solution in the market on speed, ease of use and process stability."

The new models feature redesigned single- and multi-cassette autoloaders, which are easier to load and allow reloading during exposure, and a standby mode that saves 85% on power consumption.

An announcement from Screen is expected shortly.
