AC Print cuts bottleneck with new guillotine

South Devon commercial litho and digital printer AC Print has upped efficiency after investing in the latest generation CCM Premier guillotine.

The CCM780 Premier device, which was supplied by Terry Cooper Services, has replaced an ageing Polar 92 guillotine and was installed last month.

“It went in easily and is running really well,” said AC Print director Andy Cousins.

“Our operators can quickly set up and run jobs. The guillotine used to be a bottleneck when it came to digital work but now we can better manage workflow and be more productive,” he added.

Cousins said after shopping around, the company felt nothing matched the quality and price of the new device.

He added: “The CCM780 Premier stood out for a number of reasons including its ease of set up and price. Because of its programmability we are much more flexible. We can interrupt long-run litho jobs with short-run digital work. This is important in enabling us to offer a cost-effective fast-turnaround service.”

The latest iteration of the CCM780 Premier, which was released earlier this year, is revamped version featuring a new shape and colour. It has a full colour 10in touchscreen, air side-tables, deep clamp opening designed to accept more paper per cut, and clamp optimisation with automatic knife reducing cutting time.

Safety features include fully enclosed rear guarding and totally enclosed knife change with monitored single shear bolt protection, turnbuckle adjustment.

Paignton-based AC Print’s 10 staff operate a wide range of equipment in the finishing depratment including a Horizon Crossfolder AFC-566 AKT, a Duplo System 5000 collator and bookletmaker, a Neopost DS 200 mailing and inserting machine and a Heidelberg Cylinder.

It also runs a wide range of finishing equipment including a Polar guillotineDuplo System 5000 collator and bookletmaker, a Neopost DS 200 mailing and inserting machine and a Heidelberg Cylinder. In December a Horizon Corssfolder AFC-566 AKT.
