Simon is 51 years young, and has been in print packaging for 35 years “man and boy”. He’s married with four grown-up children – twin daughters aged 30, a daughter of 26 and a son of 21 – and a five-year-old granddaughter.

He says: “I enjoy keeping up to date with the latest developments in technology, and relaxing with a nice glass of red wine and a good film.”

What is your nickname?

Bode, no explanation needed

Why did you get into printing?

I remember as a young boy going to work on a Saturday morning with my father who was a printer. The smell of the print room, the noise, the machinery, the Pirelli Calendar and the comradery fascinated me. So when an opportunity to be become either an apprentice litho printer or an apprentice platemaker arose many years later, I chose the former and have never looked back

What would be your dream job?

Anything that involves fine cuisine and wine….

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

John Simm without a doubt, I think he is a great actor and would be ideally suited

What would you most like to print?

Limited edition art prints

Who or what do you hate most?

Hate is a very strong word; I dislike people that do not take responsibility and liars

Who do you admire most in print?

I have to say my father Ed Boden; although he has now retired he was well-respected both in the business arena and privately. He started as a printer and worked his way up the corporate ladder before finally retiring as supply chain and purchasing director of MMP UK. His support over the years has never waned and he will always be the one person I admire and aspire to be like

What is your favourite album?

I never tire of listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. It is probably the only album I can listen to from start to finish without skipping a track

Cat or dog, or…?

I have a Dachshund called Rufus so it has to be a dog; no other animal can greet its owner with as much enthusiasm as a dog

Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?

The only person that truly knows me and can keep me from going insane, my wife Gwyneth

Who or what makes you laugh?

My granddaughter Isla. She is five but creases me with laughter with her expressions and mannerisms

Most embarrassing moment?

After telling my date how much I disliked fish and sea food I ordered halibut steak, I was 17 years old and truly believed that the only steak was beef steak

Where would you like to be right now?

With my Spanish colleagues and friends in Alzira Valencia spending a couple of hours enjoying “Almuerzo” (Spanish lunch)

What’s your worst fashion disaster?

A pair of Robin Hood boots that I had in the 1980s, closely followed by a very shocking fluorescent shell suit

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Halibut is a fish!
