Q&A: Hannah Tunnicliffe Sales director, Panda Press (Stone)

Hannah has been in print since she was 18, for reasons that will become obvious in her answers to this Q&A. She is married to Laurence, her co-owner at Panda Press and they have two children Molly, seven, and Barnaby who will be three next month.

Why did you get into printing?

I followed my father’s footsteps into the industry (Nigel Passmore of Alabaster Passmore & Sons) – print is in the blood

What would be your dream job?

I love property and interior design but I’m unfortunately not very creative, so probably an estate agent

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Renée Zellweger in character as Bridget Jones – we have a lot of similarities!

Who or what do you hate the most?

Insincere people who don’t do what they say they will – it’s a real pet hate of mine

Who do you admire most in the industry?

Corny I know but I have two: my dad Nigel Passmore, who is a director at Panda Press and my husband, Laurence Tunnicliffe, the managing director. They are both amazing, strong minded and ambitious men, it does make for interesting board meetings though

What would you most like to print?

It has got to be the next new £5 note – am I allowed to say that?

What was the best business deal that you’ve pulled off?

Getting on the JCB-approved print suppliers list. It took me about three years but was a great personal achievement

What is your favourite film?

Beetlejuice – please don’t say it three times though!

What is your favourite phrase or saying?

‘That’s the Panda difference’

What is your favourite album?

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl

Cat or dog?

Cat every time, we have a furry tabby cat, called Lucy

What is your greatest luxury in life?

Spending quality time with my family at the end of a long day of talking print

Who or what makes you laugh?

My children, not always intentionally, their wit and rationale keep me on my toes and keep me giggling

What’s your worst fashion disaster?

Too many to mention but probably big hair before the invention of GHD straighteners

Which superpower would you like to have?

To be able to pause time – I could get so much done

What was your childhood obsession?

Horses and skateboards – though not at the same time!

What is the worst kind of print?

Shoddy print. Even tight client budgets should lead to beautifully produced print – there’s nothing worse than a less-than-perfect print job

Life is…?

Busy, hectic, crazy and great
