Q&A: Alice Murray Account manager, Fine Print Services

Alice is 22 years old and began her career in print just over three years ago. She did a Level 3 BPIF diploma in print administration and is now on a Level 5 management programme, and is also chair of the fed’s apprentice council. Alice loves “summer holidays and skiing in the winter!”

What is your nickname? 

People often call me by my surname ‘Murray’

Why did you get into printing? 

I studied photography and creative media production at college, when I finished I was looking to do an apprenticeship within the creative industry and came across the opportunity to become an account manager in a print and design company

What would be your dream job? 

I love the job I have now but if I ever had a change, I’d quite fancy learning to become a graphic designer

What is your favourite film?

I love all the Harry Potter films, if I had to pick my favourite it would be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

What is your favourite TV programme?

I enjoy watching dramas like The Missing and Baptiste, which is on at the moment

Savoury! 

Who or what do you hate the most? 

Arrogant people

Who do you admire most in the industry? 

My dad, who used to be in the printing industry, he has inspired me to do what I am doing now; and the directors of Fine Print, Dan Bakewell and Russel Turner

What is your favourite album? 

Any album by the Arctic Monkeys

What is your favourite book? 

The Twilight novels by Stephenie Meyer. I’m currently not reading anything other than my BPIF Level 5 essay on Managing Improvement which is due to be handed in at the end of this month!

Dog

What is your greatest luxury in life? 

The most important luxury is quality time with family and friends. But also, I hate to say…the internet/technology! (You’d probably get that answer if you asked any other 22-year-old)

Robert Pattinson

What is your greatest ambition? 

To be successful in life and be able to provide a happy and secure home for myself and boyfriend then eventually one day my family when I have children

Heights and creepy crawlies! 

Who or what makes you laugh? 

My friends and family

What piece of kit would you like to see invented? 

One big machine that can do everything! Print, foil, emboss, stitch... the whole works

Most embarrassing moment? 

Falling into a water fountain in the middle of a restaurant on holiday in Egypt when I was younger

What’s your worst fashion disaster? 

Bright pink shiny Doc Martens when I was 16

Which superpower would you like to have?

To be able to go back in time or into the future 

Where would you go if you could time-travel? 

200 years into the future to see what the world will be like

What was your childhood obsession? 

Bratz/Barbie dolls & Tamagotchi

What is the worst kind of print? 

Terms & conditions – they’re never ending, and you can hardly read them the font is always so small

How would you like to be remembered? 

Friendly, honest, kind and genuine
