Xaar underscores Indian printhead monopoly

Cambridge-based inkjet technology specialist Xaar has confirmed its monopoly on the Indian printhead market, following a successful showing at Drupa.

Xaar account manager Neeraj Thappa said: "In India, Xaar has been successful with the XJ-128 which has an 'entry-level' price, breaking down barriers and enabling companies of all sizes to take advantage of inkjet technology."

Thappa added: "Inkjet is on the rise in India. At Xaar, we feel inkjet is a mainstream technology that can be applied alongside traditional technologies or as a direct replacement for conventional print technologies."

At the recent Drupa show, Xaar showcased its 1001 printhead, designed for high-speed, single-pass and scanning applications.

Also on show were the Xaar 1001-enabled Beijing Founder Web Printer and the Meital 3000-10 wide format UV flatbed printer.

Other Xaar-enabled presses on display were the FFEI/Nilpeter Caslon label printer designed for UV single-pass web printing and the EFI Jetrion 4000.

Xaar licensees present at Drupa were Konica Minolta, Seiko and Toshiba-Tec.
