Tony Jones picks up PPA Chairman's award

Former Pensord chief executive Tony Jones has been awarded the accolade of the PPA's Chairman Award at the recent PPA Chairman's reception on 14 December.

Jones was given the award in recognition of his contribution to the PPA, the magazine publishing sector and publishers.

PPA chief executive Barry McIlheney, said: "Tony has been a committed supporter of both magazines and the PPA for many years and it is fitting that he should be honoured with our Chairman’s Award.

He has grown Pensord into a strong company and we look forward to building on his good work with Darren Coxon, Karl Gater, and the new team there."

Earlier this year, Pensord underwent an MBO, led by commercial director Coxon and operations director Gater.

Jones said: "This is a proud personal achievement for me, and a reflection of the continuing close relationship between Pensord and the PPA.

"I truly believe that a strong PPA is in the best interests of publishers and as a magazine printer, that was always our principal concern. I know that Darren and the team will sustain this partnership with the PPA and help it to grow in future years."

Jones received the award from PPA's vice chairman and BBC magazines managing director Peter Phippen.
