Service Point spends 'millions' with EFI

Document management specialist Service Point has signed a "multimillion-pound" deal with EFI (11/F223) for web-to-print and MIS that covers its 120 sites across eight countries in Europe and North America.

The Barcelona-based group has signed for EFI's Pace MIS, Digital StoreFront (DSF) web-to-print system and its PrintFlow dynamic scheduling software. The deal builds on Service Point's use of DSF at its facilities in North America, France and Norway.

Implementation of Pace and DSF will begin in the Netherlands, followed by Germany, before extending to the rest of the sites.

"This is the largest deal we've ever done in Europe and the largest simultaneous deployment of our MIS software in the world," said EFI Advanced Professional Print Software (APPS) division senior vice-president and general manager Marc Olin.

"Along with our recent acquisition of Radius Solutions this deal gives us critical mass and moves us forward in the European market," he added.

"After careful consideration and researching alternatives, I decided that this was the way forward for us," said Service Point director of e-commerce and IT Jorge Jimenez. "The new agreement is the foundation of an enhanced partnership between our two organisations. Not only have we bought a new set of tools, but also a partnership, sharing best practices, training and support."

Using DSF, Service Point will be able to receive orders electronically and route them to the appropriate production site. PrintFlow will automatically optimise the scheduling of jobs. The Pace MIS will integrate with the Fiery colour servers driving its digital presses to provide a centralised MIS with company-wide visibility of costing, estimating, invoicing and job management.

Installing EFI's software underpins Service Point's strategy of lean process improvement and its aim to rationalise its IT infrastructure.
