Sappi expands uncoated grades after M-real acquisition

Sappi Fine Paper Europe has expanded its portfolio to include uncoated grades Tauro and Cento, following the paper manufacturer's acquisition of four former M-real mills.

Tauro is produced at the Stockstadt mill in Germany, while Cento is made in Switzerland at the Biberist mill. The mills are IS0 14001, FSC and PEFC accredited.

Karin Hiddink, business manager for uncoated papers at Sappi Fine Paper Europe, said: "We have a strong heritage within the coated paper market and we are looking forward to building on this with uncoated offerings."

Sappi coated brands include Magno, HannoArt, Tempo, Quatro, Royal and Allegro.

The EU cleared the company's proposed acquisition of M-real's coated graphic paper business in October 2008.

The sale also included the purchase of M-real's coated graphic paper mills Kirkniemi and Kangas in Finland.
