Printers Superstore to host first UK showing of Gronhi laser multifinisher

Printers Superstore is set to provide the first UK showing of Hans Gronhi’s LC series laser die-cutting and engraving machinery at an open house set to kick off later this month.

The company, Hans Gronhi’s UK agent, will be holding the event at its Leeds headquarters on Wednesday 30 November and Thursday 1 December. It will be running the LC340S, the sheetfed SRA3 machine from the range, which also includes SRA2 models and roll-fed and hand-fed variants.

The LC series machines were first demonstrated at Label Expo last November, though pre-production models had been shown at China Print earlier in the year. The main commercial launch outside the UK was at Drupa this year.

A range of other equipment will also be shown at the event including a Hans Gronhi GH525 five-colour B3 offset printer and a pre-owned Ryobi 524GX four-colour B3 press.

The LC series is the first finishing kit that Hans Gronhi has brought to the UK market. The LC340S can cut, kiss-cut, etch and crease at high speed and can cut intricate designs which the manufacturer said would not have been possible using metal dies.

The device can handle a wide range of paper stocks and also works with other materials including plastics and wood. Setups are quick and the machine integrates into a digital workflow, with the digitalisation also allowing for personalisation.

Printers Superstore joint managing director Graham Moorby said laser die-cutting opens up a wide range of possibilities for new printed products.

“We’ve had quite a lot of interest in this machine. I think the innovation behind it is really interesting as well as the digitalisation of that part of the finishing process.

“Setup times and run lengths are suddenly no longer a problem, you can do one or two, you can personalise every sheet going through it or you can do a few thousand. People who haven’t seen it yet are going to get a revelation in the same way that I did when they see it in operation.”

The event will run from 9.30am to 5pm on both days and experts from both Printers Superstore and Hans Gronhi will be on hand for the duration of the event.

“If there’s anything that people want to know, this is the best opportunity to come and speak to the people that actually make these machines,” said Moorby.
