Park Communications hosts print masterclass for children's hospice

Park Communications gave young adults from the Richard House Children's Hospice in Beckton a masterclass in the art of printing at its London premises last week as part of a tie-up between the two organisations.

The hospice's Young Adult Group of 16-25 year-olds and a care team started the evening's Introduction to Print seminar by having their photographs taken, after which Park chief executive Heath Mason explained the printing process.

The group was then taken on a tour of the site, with individual managers explaining their department's role in the printing process.

Daniel Hopkins, Park's pre-press manager used the photographs taken earlier in the evening to design and digitally print a number of perfect bound books, one for each member of the group as a keepsake.

Harry Singh, a member of the Young Adult Group, said: "The trip was very interesting and informative, giving us an amazing insight into the processes involved.

"It's great that [Park's] involvement and support of the charity also spans into educational trips like this for the Young Adults Group."

Park forged a link with Richard House six months ago and has since conducted a number of educational and financial initiatives for the hospice, including a fundraising collection at Temple London Underground station that raised £777.94 for the hospice.

The Young Adult Group was set up to help Richard House residents make the transition from a children's hospice to an adult hospice. It meets once a month and provides its members with social and educational activities.

Park supplies its customers with services spanning the print and distribution of corporate literature, such as fine arts catalogues, company accounts, marketing material and government publications.
