The Croydon-based commercial printer became certified with the standard in recognition of its proactive stance to reduce its impact on the environment.

Chairman Gavin Reddin said: "Carbon Smart is a very simple and direct approach based around an action plan that everyone can buy into.

"Our aim is to reduce our carbon footprint by 15% in three years and therefore offset our remaining impact."

The 40-staffed business also has ISO 14001 certification, which it achieved a number of years ago.

However, Reddin said the standard was "very much a system-based approach", and whilst it did achieve its desired result, "is not ideal at motivating and energising staff to embrace change".
