J K Rowling named Ipex 2010's 'Champion in Print'

Ipex 2010 has named Harry Potter author J K Rowling as its second International 'Champion in Print' for her contribution to the book printing industry.

The awards were launched to recognised figures that are considered to have influenced and shaped the printing industry worldwide.

Rowling's books have sold over 400 million copies worldwide and translated into more than 68 languages.

A spokeswoman on behalf off Ms Rowling said that she was "flattered to be nominated for the Ipex 2010 'Champions in Print' Award".

Trevor Crawford, event director of Ipex 2010, said: "Harry Potter has become a household name worldwide so we are extremely pleased that Ms Rowling has been awarded our prestigious 'Champions in Print Award' by the graphic arts world."

Benny Landa, founder of the Indigo, was named as the first Ipex 2010 winner with voting for the third champion open at www.ipex.org/cip

Ipex 2010 takes place from 18 - 25 May at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.
