Caslon will be launching two new card cutters. Alongside
the Zip 10M (see Star Product, above), a new Zip21 model will also be on show. According to the company, this machine features increased flexibility, variable tooling and a 50% increase in production speed. In addition to the card cutters, Caslon will be showcasing its range of foiling machines, numbering equipment, die stamping devices and thermography products.

Challenge is displaying the CMT 130, the latest member of its book trimming equipment series. This three-knife trimmer will cut perfect-bound books either in-line, near-line, or off-line with a perfect binder.

Finishing equipment specialist Friedheim is taking its largest-ever stand at Ipex, largely as a result of adding the Wohlenberg range of guillotines and perfect binders to its harem of finishing kit. As well as the Wohlenberg 132 guillotine with Baumann restacker, the firm will be showing Schneider Senator 78 E-line and 115H guillotines.

IFS will be showing the HT-80, a three knife trimmer that incorporates an automated set-up. Other features include swing knife movement to "ensure consistent, accurate quality" plus the ability to handle books of variable thickness.

Polar, which will be exhibiting on Heidelberg’s stand, is releasing its enhanced PACE systems for high-productivity cutting at Ipex. The upgrade is targeting printers using the latest XL press technology and is capable of cutting six pallets in one hour with a single operator. Polar will also announce its full integration to the Prinect workflow.

New to Ipex will be two updated JetStream models. Targeting the digital market, the machines minimise waste by slitting business cards printed 25-to-view on an SRA3. Rollem is also linking up with Heidelberg and Sappi to produce 32,000 packs of playing cards at the show.

On show for the first time at Ipex will be SCS’s Easy Fly, a face-trimming unit for perfect-bound and thread-sewn softcover books with flaps. Trim & Perf is also on show and is a universal cutting, punching/die cutting and perforating machine.
