Fuji launched its brand new workflow tool XMF, which it claimed was the first in the world to be built from the ground up around Adobe’s PDF Print Engine and JDF
 
July 2007
Screen launched Trueflow SE, a new version of the workflow package that became one of the first to use the new Adobe PDF Print Engine RIP core
 
April 2008
Agfa overhauled its workflow line up with the launch of Apogee Suite. The new version was divided into four modules: Publish, Portal, Prepress and Color. Publish was an all-new module incorporating flatplanning and asset management, while Portal was a new name for the product previously called Delano
 
May 2008
Adobe announced version 2 of Adobe PDF Print Engine and a new file format PDF/VT, which it said would streamline the production of personalised jobs by bringing together PDF and variable data into the same file for the first time
 
June 2008
HP unveiled its SmartStream workflow range at Drupa, which included web-to-print package SmartStream Designer, which was its implementation of Israeli firm Press-Sense’s web-to-print technology

July 2008
PDF became standard as Adobe ceded control of the format to the ISO in a bid to ensure it remained the de facto document distribution format in the light of competition from Microsoft Vista

EFI bolstered its range of MIS with the acquisition of Pace Systems, a developer of mid-market systems. EFI planned to replace its own mid-range PSI and Logic products with Paces ePace package
 
August 2008
Shuttleworth extended the remit of its MIS with the inclusion of tools to enable it to manage wide-format digitally printed work
 
September 2009
GI Solutions became the beta test site for Kodak’s Insite Campaign Manager. The Leicester-based firm used the software for creating and managing cross media campaigns, including SMS, Purls, email and print elements.
 
November 2009
Heidelberg rounded out its Prinect production management tools with the launch of Postpress Manager, which joined Prepress Manager and Pressroom manager. The software streamlined the set-up of Heidelberg’s JDF-enabled finishing kit and fed back the machine status for the business intelligence report.
