HP to showcase digital packaging systems across UK

HP Indigo Digital Printing will promote its new digital labels and packaging technology at a series of UK events.

The company will promote its four presses and two future platforms at four events between now and February. It will appear at the BPIF Cartons Conference, Packaging Innovations London, the Smithers Pira Digital Print for Packaging Conference and Packtech 2013.

Indigo Division marketing manager, Julia Cole, said the events will help establish the new products in the digital printing market.

She said: "Taking HP’s digital label and packaging converters to these events will enable us to promote the benefits of digital print to converters, brand owners and creatives."

There will be an information stand introducing visitors to the HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press at the BPIF Cartons Conference in the Business Design Centre in Islington, London on 3 and 4 October.

Five beta testers have been signed up to trial the Indigo digital press for folding carton production but HP has yet to announce any names or countries of origin.

HP Indigo will also take part in Packaging Innovations London on 4 and 5 October, also at the Business Design Centre. Cole will present a seminar on the second day entitled "New Digital Age" exploring how digital label, flexible packaging and folding carton printing can enable brands worldwide to create individual pieces on-demand with less waste.

Vice president and general manager of Indigo Division, Alon Bar-Shany, will give the keynote address at the Smithers Pira Digital Print for Packaging Conference on 24 and 25 October at the Grange Tower Bridge hotel in London.

His speech, entitled "Innovation in Digital Packaging: Using New Technologies to Make an Impact", will explore the evolution of digital printing and what it means for labels and packaging.

On 27 and 28 February at Packtech 2013, at the NEC, Birmingham, HP will demonstrate its label, shrink sleeve, flexible packaging and folding carton applications.

HP Indigo Digital Printing kicked off its packaging initiative after Lincolnshire-based Shere Print became the first UK company to install HP Indigo’s WS6600 digital press. Shere Print collaborated with HP Indigo Digital Printing to showcase the new technology at the Ultimate Packaging Open House in Grimsby on 6 September.
