Hobs Reprographics helps Hitachi's high-speed train launch

Hobs Reprographics’ dedicated bid and proposal team, TeamTender, was instrumental in last month’s launch of Hitachi’s AT100 and AT200 electric commuter trains.

The trains, which will be used all over the UK and are capable of reaching top speeds of between 160kph and 250kph, were launched at an event on 21 July in London.

Hobs Reprographics produced the artwork for and designed from scratch the multiple print elements required for the launch, before printing on an HP Indigo 5500 press.

This included 250 copies of a 28pp saddle-stitched book, which was printed on 260gsm cover and 160gsm inner and featured an anti-scuff matt laminate and a foil Hitachi logo on the cover; 150 A5 invites printed on Multiloft paper with a debossed front and a white insert; 1,000 A5 flyers and 250 business card invites to a future event, both printed double sided on 360gsm iprint.

Other than the HP Indigo 5500, Hobs used a Foliant laminator, JT Marshal hot foiler with a pre-made foil/deboss die, and a Polar guillotine to complete production.

TeamTender also designed the brand and logo for the new trains, which was projected via moving bo-go lights onto the floor, banners and onto life-size train carriage models at the launch event.

Kendra Ayling, brand and marketing specialist at Hitachi Rail Europe, said: “Hobs have demonstrated their wide range of capabilities and we have been very impressed by how TeamTender have seamlessly woven the various elements into a cohesive solution.

“We asked Hobs to design the logo for the train series as we know they understand our brand and we work closely with the team so they form an extension of our team here.

“We wouldn’t be able to do this if we didn’t have total trust in their ability and passion to deliver to our standards. Our launch events have to be extra-special and Team Tender ensured this event was the highlight of our calendar.”
