HighWater CTP to sell Cron pre-press in the UK

HighWater CTP founder Jane Wei has said the company will be the sole UK agent for Chinese CTP manufacturer Cron, which she co-owns, despite selling off the manufacturing assets of HighWater Designs.

Wei acquired the assets of HighWater Designs after it went into liquidation in March, but then sold all the equipment, tools and software to HighWater Products. However, HighWater CTP retained the trademarks, website and phone numbers of the business.

"I have sold the tangible remaining stock [to HighWater Products] to help them manufacture violet CTP," said Wei. "I have repositioned HighWater as a lean management supplier of a full range of CTP equipment."

As well as being UK distributor for Cron, HighWater CTP is also the exclusive distributor for HighWater Products' Python and Cobra violet platesetters in China.

HighWater CTP showcased its full range of Cron CTP technologies at Ipex this week, along with HighWater Products' violet Cobra 8.

HighWater Products is a joint venture between Marlowe Graphic Services, which counts 40 HighWater users among its client base, and Synectix, which owns the intellectual property behind the technology, as well as former HighWater Designs employees Richard Warren and Tony Lambert.
