Headleys signs NexPress deal

Headley Brothers has signed a deal to expand its digital portfolio with the purchase of a Kodak NexPress SE2500 digital color press with a fifth imaging unit.

The Ipex investment is part of the Kent-based printer's strategy to build its digital arm and strengthen its short-run capacity. It rounds off an Ipex spend that included an MBO folder (see above).

Managing director Roger Pitt said innovative features on the press offered the company "huge potential" to add-value to products.

"The fifth unit with dimensional ink will make a real difference in quality to the look and the feel of many of our printed products, such as magazine and booklet covers, promotional materials and direct mail.

"We also selected the digital technology for the robustness of the hardware and modularity of the software."

He added that the press would enable the company to expand going forward.

"We know the Kodak software will offer us multiple options for the future," he said.

Headley Brothers is a large independent printing company with more than 260 staff. It offers webto-print ordering and web and print design, alongside web and sheetfed printing and finishing.

Pat Holloway, UK marketing manager at Kodak, said the power and versatility of the NexPress would help the company enter new markets.
