Fujifilm to make Packaging Innovations debut

Fujifilm has announced it will exhibit at Packaging Innovations this year for the first time.

The manufacturer will be partnering with digital imaging specialist FFEI at the show, held 26-27 February at the NEC Birmingham.

The 48sqm stand will feature Fujifilm’s Acuity LED 1600, the Graphium UV inkjet press and FFEI’s RealPro Toolkit labelling and packaging pre-press software.

“Fujifilm has long been a key player in print, and we are now extending our solutions to the packaging market, which is one of the reasons why we’ve decided to exhibit at Packaging Innovations for the first time,” said Steve Cookman, product manager, wide-format inkjet, Fujifilm.

Fujifilm added that the intention was to showcase the entire label workflow, demonstrating how artwork could be prepared on RealPro Toolkit and printed on Graphium, with prototype packaging for the same product printed on the Acuity.

Fujifilm’s Acuity LED 1600 is a large format hybrid inkjet printer that offers special varnishing effects, spot colours and a speed of 20sqm per hour. It can process substrates up to 1,610mm-wide.

The Graphium label and packaging press is manufactured by FFEI and distributed by Fujifilm in the UK.

FFEI’s RealPro Toolkit, launched at Packaging Innovations 2013, consists of 12 modules, including those for file editing and preparation, colour management, cylinder repeats and patterns and artwork pre-distortion.

Also exhibiting at Packaging Innovations will be HP, with an on-stand ‘digitally printed supermarket’, and Esko.
