Fuji previews entry level eco-solvent machine

Fuji plans to bolster its wide-format inkjet range with an entry level eco-solvent machine and a deal with ColorGate for RIP software.

The printer, which it is being run at Drupa, is expected to be launched in early 2009.

Fuji's mild solvent wide-format machine features a built-in spectrophotometer to ensure accurate and consistent colours.

"The on board spectrophotometer and the ColorGate RIP make this printer ideal for matching spot and brand colours," Fujifilm Sericol European regional director Jerry Avis said.

The company also showed another spot and special colour innovation at Drupa with an Inca Spyder 320 running an Ultrachrome ink set, which adds orange violet and white to CMYK.

"The extra colours make it much easier to achieve brand colours," Avis said.

Fuji also announced its Excellight film, which is optimised for wide-format jobs that are viewed both as backlit and reflective.

"Customers have said that there is a genuine need for this," Avis added.
