FSC UK aims to dispel certification myths at Ipex

FSC UK is hoping to "dispel some of the myths" surrounding environmental certification when it attends Ipex 2010 next month.

At the Birmingham show, on 18 May, the accreditation body will give a seminar entitled 'Promoting your environmental credentials: The use of the FSC logo'. This will explore the use of the FSC logo on printed material and aims to clarify its usages.

A spokeswoman said exhibiting at the event would give FSC the opportunity to meet up with companies already committed to the environment and to engage with those that aren't.

She said: "While an increasing number of printers and paper companies are gaining certification in the UK, we are aware that there are some misconceptions regarding the FSC system within the paper sector.

"FSC enables companies to demonstrate, through independent certification, that the paper products they sell or use come from responsible sources and exclude the risk of using illegally logged timber."
