Friedheim puts MBO's 'future proof' folder at the heart of its Ipex stand

Friedheim International will hand a UK debut to MBO's M80 modular folding machine at Ipex, where it will be the highlight of the finishing equipment distributor's stand.

Friedheim announced the launch of MBO's new modular folding machines, the M80 and M60, in October 2013. "Having the new MBO M80 as the highlight of our stand is an extremely exciting prospect," said Friedheim International managing director Mark Bristow.

"Visitors will be able to see a new approach to the folding process that brings with it increased productivity and greater cost efficiencies, something that everyone in these difficult times is striving to achieve."

The machines can be reconfigured and upgraded on site, allowing users to start out with a manual machine, for instance, and later add the motors for the rollers and plates to make it automatic.

According to Friedheim national sales manager Stuart Bamford any feature from the MBO range can be retrofitted to the M80 at a later date, whether it’s a pre-slitter shaft or a slitter shaft cassette or a different type of feeder.

The model on Friedheim's stand at Ipex will be an M80 featuring the R80 continuous feeder, KB80 Cross Fold unit, DB60 Three Fold unit, plus A70 delivery unit for handling the folded sections.

Being demonstrated alongside the M80 will be a Palamides Delta 703 fully automatic stacking and banding delivery system, which will process 16pp folded output.

Friedheim, which has also just announced an upgrade to Audion Elektro's Audionpack H22SA stand-alone shrinkwrapper, will also host a stand-alone version of Hunkeler's WI6 Web Inspection System at next month's Excel-based show.

The WI6 uses digital cameras to capture high resolution images of printed output for various types of quality and integrity analysis; it is available in simplex or duplex configurations and can run from 1-up to 4-up production without re-configuring.

Meanwhile, the upgraded Audionpack H22SA can store up to 10 programs instead of six and has a larger fan in place of two smaller ones to allow greater circulation of air. An opening delay in raising the hood prevents hot air from escaping, while the placing of an electrical panel at the front of the machine has improved service and maintenance access.
