Four Pees to launch entry-level PrintFactory at Fespa

Four Pees will launch an entry-level version of its PrintFactory wide-format workflow at Fespa, which takes place from 24-27 May in Hamburg.

PrintFactory Go takes the editor package from the full PrintFactory workflow and turns it into a standalone job preparation and job verification tool.

The software will offer users most of the benefits of the PrintFactory workflow but without the variable data and automation tools available in the full version.

Bart Fret, product manager for PrintFactory at Four Pees, said: "With PrintFactory Go people can use a large part of the PrintFactory software with their existing RIPs and printers, without having to buy and implement the complete workflow.

"They get the pre-flighting and file verification functionality and most of the tools to do tiling and panelling and the other cool stuff on the file preparation side, but for the JDF and automation tools, they will still have to get complete solution."

PrintFactory Go is aimed at printers who either want to try out the software before upgrading to the full package or those that simply want a quicker job preparation tool but don't want to replace their existing workflow and RIPs.

"A very large part of the benefits of PrintFactory can already be implemented by adding PrintFactory Go to the workflow and in a later stage that can be ugraded if you want to have the full benefits," said Fret.

Pricing for PrintFactory Go has yet to be confirmed, although Fret said it would be an "entry-level product". The full PrintFactory workflow costs from €3,000 (£2,700) to €50,000 depending on scale of installation.

FourPees added JDF support in version 4.1 of PrintFactory, which was released late last year, to bring some of the automation benefits that are common in commercial print to wide-format.
