Extreme Graphics Northern invests in Mutoh ValueJet 1624

Extreme Graphics Northern has diversified into eco-solvent wide-format production after investing in a Mutoh ValueJet 1624.

The 1625mm-wide machine, which can print at speeds up to 29sqm an hour, is designed for companies producing quality display signage, marketing collateral, banners and backlit signage.

The company, based in Hindley, near Wigan, is using the Lomas & Thorpe-supplied machine to complement its existing 1625mm aqueous printer and boost capacity.

Carrying a list price of £13,950 before VAT, the Mutoh ValueJet 1624 has also enabled the exhibition graphics firm to produce more outdoor applications.

Amanda Pilkington, joint owner of Extreme Graphics Northern with husband Jeff, said the growing demand for outdoor work led to the new investment.

She added: "We did look at several other options to be sure there was nothing else that better suited our business or fitted our requirements quite as well as the Mutoh ValueJet 1624.

"There were several factors in its favour, but the key one for us, was its output quality.  The speed was good as was the price, but the quality was what really decided it for us, it was spot on."

The Mutoh ValueJet 1624 prints using Mutoh's four-colour Eco Ultra inks and features the company's patented I² Intelligent Interweaving print technology.

This is claimed to increase print speeds and help eliminate banding while improving accuracy and consistency of dot size and dot release during printing.

According to Pilkington, the company has already printed banners, canvasses, posters, backlit and external signage during the first month of operation.

"It’s going to be our workhorse. We’ve got no complaints at all and are very pleased with our decision," she added.
