Duplo unveils raft of Drupa finishing kit

Duplo has unveiled a raft of new kit it will showcase at this year's Drupa, including the launch of its new mid-range DBM-350/T bookletmaker and the DSF-5000 High Speed Dynamic Document Sheet Feeder.

The kit manufacturer will also be exhibiting a new version of its DuBinder with PUR functionality and the premiere of the DC-645 Production Colour Finisher with knife-folding option.

The DBM 350/T is designed to fit midway between Duplo's entry-level and high-end bookletmakers. It offers stitching speeds of up to 3,000 books an hour and fully automated set-up.

The machine can accommodate a range of digitally-printed, on-demand applications including CD and DVD covers as well as A4 and A3 booklets up to 80pp in size.

Duplo's DSF-5000 High Speed Dynamic Sheet Feeder is a production level machine and features Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) in addition to barcode readers, which allow the kit to handle variable and personalised print.

It also offers feeding speeds up to 400 sheets per minute, with stock fed from a 610mm high capacity pallet paper tray.

The new fully-automatic PUR DuBinder is designed for short to medium-run perfect-bound books. It incorporates a closed tank system that doesn't require draining after each use, which is claimed reduces downtime and glue wastage.

The binder runs at cycling speeds of up to 525 books an hour, and is capable of binding materials with a maximum booklet size of 360x320mm and minimum of 120x120mm.

Duplo will also use Drupa to showcase the new knife-folding option for its DC-645 slitter, cutter, creaser.

The folder incorporates two knife folds, which are claimed to be ideal for parallel fold applications such as letter folds. The folder can process up to 50 sheets per minute and also be by-passed when not needed.

Duplo International UK marketing manager Peter Jolly told printweek.com that "we're looking at added value and how printers can diversify themselves from the competition".

"Not all printers are the same, which is why we're talioring our kit to allow firm's to bring more of their finishing in-house".

Duplo will be exhibiting at this year's Drupa, which takes place from 29 May - 11 June in Düsseldorf, Germany.
