Chroma orders fifth Komori press

Chroma Drukarnia, one of Poland's largest web-to-print companies, has signed for a Komori G40P press at Drupa.

It is the fifth Komori 40-inch press Chroma has bought in just five years, said owner Krzysztof Raczkowski.

"But it is our first perfector. Ever since we started our online print business three years ago, our turnover has been growing at 20% per year. Web-to-print is now 70% of our business," he added.

The Komori G40P will be configured with full automation and closed loop colour control. It will also be the first H-UV-equipped press going to Poland, said Tadeusz Figurski, vice-president of Komori’s Polish distributor Reprograf.

"This enables Chroma to have a perfecting press without the need for coaters. H-UV provides very fast drying, and that is key to Chroma’s way of producing print, with up to nine jobs per hour per press and print runs sometimes as low as 30 sheets. That is what Komori calls offset on demand," said Figurski.
