Baldwin launches aimed at cutting waste

Automation systems and consumables manufacturer Baldwin (Hall 16, stand A23) has used drupa as the springboard for a raft of new ancillary products aimed at reducing waste and solvent consumption.

According to the company, one product generating a serious amount of interest is the ProTech Flexo cleaning and drying system, which promises to reduce start-up waste by up to 50% when compared with hand cleaning. The effectiveness of the system’s rotating and oscillating brush roller means less solvent can be used, said Baldwin.

Another key launch is a new EvenSpray system that incorporates a G6 Dual Drive valve capable of spraying water out more times per revolution. This allows smaller amounts to be sprayed, reducing overall water and ink usage, and, with required damp levels reached more quickly during makeready, reducing start-up waste.

The company has also turned its attention to reducing power consumption, with a QuadCure UV lamp head, which features reflectors to minimise the power required.

Director of product management Joacim Wellander said: "It’s been a very good show for us because we are offering products that haven’t been available before and people are keen to upgrade and streamline their operations as much as possible."
