Alderson Brothers Print Group brings stitching in-house with Heidelberg ST350 spend

The Alderson Brothers Print Group has brought nearly 95% of its stitching work in-house with a new Heidelberg ST350 stitching line.

The 230-strong print firm has also invested in a Polar 78X guillotine to finish work produced on its litho print portfolio, which includes a recently-installed Anicolor press.

The West Molesey firm has added the ST350, its second Stitchmaster line, to its web division, which houses two six-color 16pp Goss M600 presses and a four-colour 8pp Komori System 20 web offset press.

The four station ST350 can run at speeds up to 12,000cph and handle product formats ranging from 85 x 128mm to 320 x 480mm in size.

Aldersons Brothers Print Group joint managing director Ron Alderson said: "We are printing runs of up to five million on our Goss presses, and we needed to expand our own in house stitching capabilities to help keep up with this growing demand."

Neil Alderson told printweek.com: "The new ST350 will help us significantly cut the work we outsource by nearly 95%".

The company has also taken delivery of a new Polar 78X guillotine. The kit will augment its litho print facility, which includes an eight-colour Man Roland 700, a six-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 and a newly-installed Anicolor press.

Alderson said the Polar, which will sit alongside the new Anicolor, "is a proven, quality piece of cutting equipment".

He added: "It’s what we call a ‘standard buy’ – you want a guillotine, get a Polar."
