Booths inspires with Christmas Book, but...

Jo Francis is frustrated at being unable to give credit where credit is due.

Dear reader, sometimes this job is sooo frustrating.

With Christmas officially underway now the John Lewis advert has aired, the Christmas catalogue collection at Francis Towers is growing apace.

I wanted to bring you details of the printco that has helped one company out-John Lewis John Lewis this year. But I cannot.

The company in question is Booths, “the Waitrose of the north”.

It has produced a most wonderful Christmas Book as part of its seasonal campaign.

Cloth bound, gold foil blocked cover, +200pp of sumptuously illustrated pages of Christmas recipes and inspiration on uncoated stock, and complete with a bespoke ribbon ‘Booths’ bookmark.

You can see a pic of it on PrintWeek's Twitter feed, here.

It’s a complete delight. Naturally I was keen to find out who had produced this fantastic example of the power of print. It was going to be the perfect pre-Christmas Killer App.

Dammit, Booths will not give me any details: “We want to protect the process as we invest a lot of time and effort into this publication and it’s very much our USP over the Christmas period,” says Danny in marketing.

Argh! Now I do have an inkling about who might have been involved with this, but I don’t want to drop them in it with a key customer.

So, consider this a shout-out to all the pre-press, print, paper and finishing folk involved. You’ve done a most fantastic job.
