New Tradeprint MD steps up

Charlene Douglas has been named as the new managing director of Cimpress-owned Tradeprint.

Douglas' appointment follows the resignation of Simon Cooper, who stepped down from the Dundee-based business in July after around 18 months in the role in order to spend more time with his family.

Following a transition phase, finance director Douglas will take over the top job officially on 1 November. A qualified chartered accountant, she previously worked in an audit and accountancy practice and later spent nine years as a senior analyst then finance manager at Dundee technology company NCR.

She joined Tradeprint in 2015 as finance director, shortly after the company’s was acquired by global print-on-demand giant Cimpress.

“I worked very closely with Simon, and I am incredibly grateful for his mentorship throughout his tenure at Tradeprint,” she said. “He has left me with some great objectives to help me grow both personally and professionally. One of those is to take inspiration from others through business reading which I am finding particularly fulfilling.

“I am surrounded by a team of hard-working, enthusiastic and passionate co-workers who are an inspiration to work alongside, and I am incredibly excited to be leading them on this journey. I am incredibly proud to be in this position.

“We want to stand out from our competition by delivering world-class service, and this is a challenge I want to embrace and take forward. We will continue to innovate and launch fantastic new online features such as split-shipping to several locations or international deliveries, and of course, many new products at excellent quality.”

Douglas will move forward in her role building on a number of investments and advancements made by Tradeprint during Cooper’s tenure, including the launch of a new trading platform that will enable the company to expand its product portfolio and wide-format offerings.

She said the team would continue to develop its customer experience behind the scenes, including trying to improve site performance.

£14.5m-turnover Tradeprint currently employs 163 staff across its headquarters in Dundee and a base in London. A further 10 positions are currently in “different stages of recruitment”, according to Douglas.
